Born in Cannes, France, in 1964, SURCAR began as a pioneering congress dedicated to advancing the craft, science, and future of Automotive Body Finishing.
What started on the French Riviera as a small gathering of visionary paintshop engineers has evolved into a global community — uniting manufacturers, suppliers, researchers, and designers driven by one purpose: to shape the future of surface excellence.

From Cannes to Shanghai — A Journey of Excellence
In 2014, SURCAR extended its legacy eastward with the launch of SURCAR Shanghai, marking a new chapter of global collaboration.
From that first edition, SURCAR Asia has become the premier technical congress for automotive painting and surface innovation, bringing together the region’s leading OEMs, materials specialists, equipment suppliers, and turnkey solution providers under one roof.
In 2024, SURCAR Shanghai proudly celebrated its 10-Year Anniversary — a milestone symbolizing more than longevity: it represents an enduring bridge between European heritage and Asian innovation.
